Opportunity to Eliminate Well Log Confidentiality -- Send a Letter of Support
Posted: 4/5/2011
Senate Bill 263 -- Senator Fran Pavley -- Well Confidentialty, Public Availability.
Existing law makes well completions reports (e.g., well logs, drillers reports) confidential information and not available to the public. This bill would make well logs publicly available. The specific bill language can be viewed at http://www.grac.org/SB263_Bill_20110210_Introduced.pdf
A Well Logs Fact Sheet can be viewed at http://www.grac.org/Well_Log_Fact_Sheet.pdf
If you support making well logs publicly available, we urge you to send a signed letter of support immediately to Senator Pavley -- an example letter is available for your use at http://www.grac.org/SB263_Support_Letter_Example.doc.

The bill will be heard April 12th at the Capitol, Room 112, in the Natural Resources and Water Committee hearing, which starts at 9AM and could go until 12Noon -- Since this is the Chair's bill, it will be read last at sometime after 11AM. We think it may be important to have a strong showing of the GRA Membership in the committee hearing. If you can manage to free yourself up for a couple of hours late morning on April12th, please consider visiting your Capitol, providing a strong showing of support for the bill, seeing your Legislature in action, and being part of the process.
Thanks for your consideration.
