Overview

For 46 years, the Biennial Groundwater Conference has been a forum for educators, researchers, and practitioners to discuss needs critical to groundwater management in California. Topics discussed in the conference provided policy makers statewide chances to preview the emerging issues of groundwater resource utilization. Managing California's Groundwater: The Challenges of Quality and Quantity is the theme of the 2001 conference.

Technical Program

Celeste Cantu, Executive Director, California State Water Resources Control Board will be the keynote speaker. Two concurrent sessions on policy and technical issues, featuring 48 invited speakers, will be held to cover the following topic areas:

  • groundwater quality
  • groundwater quantity
  • groundwater management
  • new tools
  • watershed effects on groundwater
  • development of groundwater in impaired water areas
  • emerging non-conventional contaminants
  • GIS and hydrologic applications; and remediation technologies

Conference participants are encouraged to make poster presentations of relevant professional work. For participation, follow Instructions for Poster Presentations. A detailed conference program will be posted in early September. Abstracts of the presentations will be available to registrants at the Conference.
