TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE: Completion of a Bachelor's degree in geology, civil engineering, a related degree, or equivalent, and at least four (4) years of progressively responsible professional geologic and hydrogeologic experience, including at least one year's experience supervising technical staff.

Comprehensive knowledge of natural and physical science, geology, hydrogeology and engineering geology is required. Must have knowledge of state, federal and local laws pertaining to water resources and water quality. Knowledge of water conservation practices, well-head protection policies, sources of groundwater contamination, CEQA and land development and impacts to groundwater resources, well construction and destruction requirements, well efficiency methods, groundwater management, groundwater supply and water quality monitoring, environmental program coordination, and hydrology is necessary.

Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Knowledge of personnel management is needed. Skill in public speaking, giving PowerPoint presentations, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously is required. Staff Hydrogeologist/Modeler

Description: Daniel B. Stephens & Associates, Inc. (DBS&A) is a progressive environmental science consulting firm with offices in California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas, providing a broad spectrum of government and private sector clients with comprehensive services in groundwater and surface water hydrology, soil sciences, site assessment and remediation, and attorney support.  We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Hydrogeologist/Modeler to join our diverse technical team in fulfilling our vision of being a premier provider of innovative and specialized services in hydrology and the environment.

Qualifications: We are seeking applicants for an entry to intermediate level (approximately 0 to 5 years experience) hydrogeologist position in our Albuquerque, New Mexico or Santa Barbara, California office.  Demonstrated ability to effectively apply one or more commonly used groundwater flow and transport models is required.  Expertise in unsaturated and multiphase flow is highly desirable.  The successful candidate will have the ability to evaluate environmental and geologic information, identify key data, and interpret/analyze groundwater flow systems and related fate and transport processes.  Position requires strong attention to detail, and a demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and analytical thinking.  The position requires an MS or Ph.D. degree in hydrology (or related field).  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

Business Development Manager

Description: WEISS ASSOCIATES, a premier San Francisco Bay Area environmental science, engineering and management consulting firm, is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the business development and marketing activities for the company.

The Business Development Manager will lead and support a core team of talented senior technical staff to develop business from existing clients and new clients. The successful candidate will report to the President/CEO, set corporate business development strategies, and work closely with the senior technical staff to develop environmental, engineering, hydrogeologic, and regulatory compliance work in the commercial, municipal, state and federal sectors.

Duties: The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Updating and improving the current business development plan in conjunction with Weiss senior management;
  
• Developing marketing materials;
  
• Preparing proposals;
  
• Generating leads;
  
• Attending networking events;
  
• Meeting with potential clients;
  
• Making presentations;
  
• Initiating programs to diversify the company's current client base and services;
  
• Preparing and tracking annual sales/marketing/business development plans and budgets;
• Playing a key role in setting corporate business development strategies;
  
• Increasing overall company sales to facilitate growth; and,
  
• Leading and managing the business development team to achieve company goals.
  

Qualifications: This position requires at least 10 years of business development and management experience. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to develop, implement and manage strategic business development plans that optimize current and future opportunities in the industry with Weiss' strengths, interests and staff capabilities. The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in generating at least $500,000 in new labor revenue annually. This position requires superior leadership, management and cooperative teamwork skills to draw on the strengths of the various team members.

Additional requirements include a minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering, science, environmental science, marketing, business administration, or a related field. Superior interpersonal and communication skills and proven management and leadership capabilities are a must. Prior experience working with environmental consulting companies and experience in the San Francisco Bay Area and northern California markets are strongly preferred.
