Come hear a discussion of what’s new and upcoming in groundwater from the point of view of the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). Brian Lewis is Chief of the Geological Services Unit, Northern California, Department of Toxic Substances Control. His unit is responsible for providing geological support for permitting, closing, and remediating hazardous waste sites.

Mr. Lewis will discuss some of the emerging issues, about guidance documents and training opportunities open to consultants. He will help you understand the roles and responsibilities and share some of the priorities of DTSC.

Brian Lewis is Chief of the Geological Services Unit, Northern California, Department of Toxic Substances Control. His unit is responsible for providing geological support for permitting, closing, and remediating hazardous waste sites.

Mr. Lewis has 26 years experience, working on all aspects of water resources and contaminant hydrogeology. He obtained his A.B. degree in geology with an emphasis in water resources from Occidental College. He has worked for the Department of Water Resources, State Water Resources Control Board, and the US Environmental Protection Agency, Headquarters.

He has been a Board member of GRA since its inception in 1992. Mr. Lewis has held various officer positions with GRA at the statewide level, including President (1998-1999). He was editor of GRA's newsletter, Hydrovisions, for five years.

He is the State Representative on US EPA's Groundwater Forum and member of the Community Advisory Council, California State University, Sacramento. He is a Registered Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist, and Certified Hydrogeologist.

This meeting will be held jointly with the Southern California Branch of the Professional Environmental Marketing Association (PEMA). Join your colleagues to become informed on the needs of DTSC.
