PRESENTATION:

In implementing SGMA, rural communities face unique and unprecedented challenges. SGMA regulations and the development and adoption of a successful Groundwater Sustainability Plan requires extensive public and stakeholder outreach and engagement. This talk will touch on the specific challenges rural communities face as they navigate SGMA and outreach strategies to build strong and lasting stakeholder engagement.

SPEAKER BIO:

Laura Snell

Laura Snell is the County Director and Livestock & Natural Resources Advisor for Cooperative Extension in Modoc County. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Water Science and a Masters of Science in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She supports SGMA efforts in Modoc County, specifically Big Valley Groundwater Basin.
