    The California Water Science Center (CAWSC) is seeking an individual who has an interest in making USGS scientific information more useful to cooperators and transparent to stakeholders through improved web-based communications. The postion is in our main Sacramento office on the California State University, Sacramento campus. Incumbents will specifically be responsible for designing and coding user-driven interactive, map-based web applications, using GIS systems, graphics, and database software to create graphics that illustrate key findings and concepts, and using web content management systems to organize and display information about complex scientific programs and products. This position supports two long-term programs focused on groundwater quality in California (COGG https://ca.water.usgs.gov/projects/oil-gas-groundwater/ and GAMA https://ca.water.usgs.gov/gama/) and is part of a team of USGS scientists working with scientists and engineers responsible for implementing state water quality programs. Some recent web-delivered information from this group includes a platform enabling users to explore trends in groundwater quality throughout the entire state, and web pages that capture information given in a series of public briefings. Upcoming products include full 3d-user views of EM-based salinity maps. CAWSC teams are high-performing and expect all senior staff to be self-motivated and creative problem solvers.
