Affiliate Organizations

Since its inception, GRA has enjoyed opportunities for collaborating with a wide range of agencies and organizations having goals and objectives similar to those valued by GRA. A short list of organizations GRA has affiliations with follows:

The Water Education Foundation (WEF)

  • A non-profit organization that tries to create a better understanding of water issues and help resolve water resource problems through educational programs. They offer a variety of programs on the history, geography and science of water for children in grades K-14.

The Groundwater Foundation (TGF)

  • A non-profit organization dedicated to educating and motivating people to care for and about groundwater. Implements programs to engage interest in, and inspire action on behalf of groundwater protection and conservation initiatives, both locally and globally. TGF publishes a quarterly publication, The Aquifer, to provide up-to-date information on groundwater-related issues and new technological developments.

The American Ground Water Trust

  • A non-profit education organization that acts as an independent authority on the hydrologic, economic and environmental significance of ground water.

The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA)

  • From legislation to regulatory activity to broad policy issues, ACWA is on the front lines in Sacramento and in Washington, D.C as a constant and respected advocate for California's public water agencies. ACWA's involvement at the state and federal level has helped shape laws and policies that affect ACWA's member agencies and their customers.

The California Groundwater Association (CGA)

  • A non-profit organization that is devoted to continuing education to its members and providing accurate information to the public regarding the quantity, quality and availability of California's groundwater resources.

The National Ground Water Association (NGWA)

  • Provides guidance to members, government representatives, and the public on scientific, economic, and beneficial development, protection and management of the world's ground water resources. Publishes Water Well Journal, Ground Water Monitoring & Remediation and Ground Water.

The National Ground Water Research and Education Foundation (NGWREF)

  • Operates as a 501(c)(3) public foundation to focus on conducting educational, research and other charitable activities related to a broader public understanding of ground water.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)

  • Recognized as the sole science agency in the Department of the Interior and is one of the lead agencies that solve complex natural resource problems across the country and around the world.

California Department of Water Resources (DWR)

  • Operates and maintains the State Water Project including the California Aqueduct, provides dam safety and flood control services, assists local water districts in water management and conservation activities, promotes recreational opportunities, and plans for future statewide water needs.

The Water Resources Center Archives (WRCA)

  • Collects, preserves and provides access to historical and contemporary water-related materials that support the instructional and research programs of the University of California and the needs of the people of the State.
